I am not entirely sure whether this is the right place to ask this question, but I thought I could give it a try.
(My girlfriend's) laptop builtin keyboard sometimes randomly stops working and then after a while starts working again. Sometimes, rebooting helps, but sometimes, the problem even persists after multiple reboots.
When the keyboard is not working, plugging in an external keyboard does not help. However, the "windows screen keyboard" still works, and when it is active, pressing some keys (like shift, ctrl, caps lock, backspace) on the physical keyboard will make them light up on the screen keyboard.
Any idea what curse may have befallen this laptop?
